VoxelDance Additive 4.1 is released, significantly improving the work efficiency
After the release of VoxelDance Additive 4.0, we are glad to announce that an important minor version update for VDA software: VoxelDance Additive 4.1. In this update, we continue to improve the functionality and printing efficiency for metal printing.
4.1 new features overview
Parts importing speed increased by 5-10 times
With the widespread and deepening application of 3D printing, the complexity and data of the 3D printed parts are constantly increasing. Meanwhile, faced with the trend of 3D printer becoming larger and featuring multiple lasers, the quantity of parts per platform is also increasing.
VoxelDance Additive 4.1 has further improved the efficiency of the importing and exporting the large parts which is 5-10 times faster compared to 4.0 version and significantly reduced waiting time.
The triangle number of the imported part is more than 30 million. The size of the file is 1.8G.
The brand-new rendering engine brings work efficiency 2-5 times
By adopting a brand new rendering engine, the software has achieved a 2-5 times improvement in running efficiency. Increased FPS of the software greatly improved the user experience.

Reconstructed the support module. No delay in entering and exiting the support module.
With the 4.1 update, we have reconstructed the software architecture, eliminating the need to load model and support data when entering and exiting support modules. This has completely eliminated any lagging issues.
New support types: Lowest line bar support and gusset support
During the actual metal printing process, one model usually need multiple types of supports to achieve the optimal support design.
Add lowest line bar support in the support script, and the software can define the lowest line of the parts and add lowest line support automatically to ensure that the supports transfers heat to the platform in a timely manner during the forming process, preventing warping and cracking caused by heat accumulation.
Add gusset support in the support script, and the software will define the overhangs automatically and add gusset supports to reduce support and save printing materials.
New support parameter: only lowest area
Add a new option of "only lowest area" for volume supports, bar supports, and smart supports.
In the support design of some metal parts, the "only lowest area" can generate high-strength volume support at lower height, while generating an automatic combination of gusset support, smart support or bar support at the higher height. This could reduce support and save printing materials.
New support function: Contour support
Contour support is suitable for slender-shaped
parts. Compare to volume support, contour support
can reduce laser jumping and printing time.
3D nesting optimization
Multiple 3D nesting strategies are available to meet users' diverse placement needs, effectively improving the placement efficiency of the parts.
